Vacations are Not Practical for Many Europeans

Summertime doesn’t make living easier in Greece.

While tourists are flocking to the Mediterranean country from all over the world, more than 50 percent of the local population can’t afford to pay for a one-week holiday away from home.

In Germany, where unemployment is at a record-low 3.8 percent, the ratio is only one in five.

[Skift Editor’s Note: According to the chart, more than 40 percent of the inhabitants of Portugal, Italy, Ireland and Spain likewise didn’t have the budget to take a one-week vacation this summer.]
