I’ve been looking on Amazon while bored between classes, and saw these old World War 2 era Gaiters and World War 1 era Puttees. They look really cool honestly, but I’d want to wear them as apart of an outfit. Is it possible to make an outfit with either of these that isn’t just something you’d wear to a reenactment? If you guys have any ideas, please share them. Unconventional ideas are welcome, since this is a pretty unconventional piece as it is

I tend to wear very plain clothes. T shirt and jeans most days, or shorts if it’s hot. Maybe a hoodie if it’s cold. But I really don’t like the style I have, and I want to wear more flashy, interesting outfits. Things with unconventional pieces, but not something so unconventional it looks like I’m at the met gala. Something intentional in its flash and composition. The photos above really show what I mean. See how intentionally they’re put together? Showy and interesting, but not so wild they would be better for a message than actual day-wear.
But i dont know how they knew how to put these together. The outfits are so intentional, and so well put together. But I don’t know what the process was behind choosing the pieces. How did they find the pieces that went well together? How did they know what to grab and what not? What’s the science?
Does anyone here know what that science is? what are the general rules or guidelines for choosing outfits like this? I know that it depends on style, but I dont know quite what style I’d do yet, since again, I wear the most basic stuff I can. So what general, no matter the style, guidelines do you guys know? Any help would be greatly appreciated
