Here is my style board for a swanky wedding I'm going to tomorrow, cocktail attire. I used AI to make this board, but I have all these peices in hand.
I love this dress and I was trying to make it a little less traditional with the more sculptural peices- the bracelet and the purse. Does it work? I think it's fun to mix things, floral and organic shapes, but I dont know if it "works" and I should stick to accessories that are more classic- just the hoops and the heels.
Feedback and suggestions welcomed!

I have had this dress for about 10 years. I have always loved it and haven't been able to fit it in the past 5. I have lost some weight and it now fits again. I have a cocktail attire wedding next month at a swanky location, and I wanted to wear it. But I am hesitant because I'm afraid it is out of style and will look dated.
I have always had a more "classic" sense of style- I try to wear things that are timeless. Like if i were to have a daily unform it would be a white oxford, jeans, and a blazer. Im not interested in being seen as fashion forward or trendy- my goal is to always look classic and "oh, this old thing?".
But I asked a friend, and she said that the wide stripes make it seem dated. I asked another friend, and she said that the shaw makes me look older than I am (42).
My question is two fold:
- is the dress obviously dated, or is it more classic? In case it's not visible by the photo, this is a satin midi length tea dress with a boat neck and circle skirt. No sleeves.
- does the shaw date ME?
UPDATE: The shawl is becoming a Christmas table runner! Never to be worn again. I may wear the dress to the event with an updated shoes and bag, but I may look for something more "evening" for the event. Thanks all!
