I created this piece myself last year, during a moment when I was completely inspired by Whitebeard's story and what his character represents to me.
It’s an A3 traditional artwork made with colored pencils and brush pen. I chose to use strong, vivid colors because I wanted the piece to carry the same sense of life, strength and legacy that I associate with Edward Newgate.
What really stayed with me while drawing him wasn't simply his strength. It was the idea of a man who spent his life searching for a family, protecting the people he loved, and ultimately leaving behind something much bigger than himself.
I spent a lot of time thinking about how to translate that feeling into the composition. The different moments surrounding Whitebeard are meant to feel almost like fragments of his story — memories gathered around the person at the center of them.
This was one of those drawings where I became so absorbed in the process that I didn't really notice how much time had passed. Looking at it now, I can still remember exactly what inspired me to draw it.
I’m curious how other One Piece fans see Whitebeard: what does Edward Newgate represent to you?
And if you had a place in your home dedicated to something from One Piece that genuinely means something to you, would Whitebeard be one of those characters?
