Long time coming.. Went to a couple Ren Faires last year and really enjoyed the overall vibe and my favorite part was seeing people dressed up as SO many different things. Realized that cosplaying is a huge outlet for your creativity because you can be WHOEVER you want.
I started with just a regular medieval get-up, but later evolved into going full into a take on what Boba Fett would look like in medieval times.
- Vambraces: Cut, sanded, and stained some wooden dowels that are about pencil thick. I glued some feathers on the dowels to give a "crossbow bolt" look to them and slide them into my vambraces.
- Belt: Started with a single loop belt, but I honestly hated it haha. I couldn't ever figure out how to tie it and when I did tie it, it wasn't even that tight. Found an old belt and added all the pouches, flasks, and stein holders I wanted. Ended up adding a belt cape to give it a drifter look.
- Flak Vest and Cloak: Flak vest and velcro adhesion... glue is not very good in baking hot sun and sweat, a ton of sweat. Both the armor and the cloak would not stay attached. Ended up "riveting" the velcro on the flak vest by using Chicago screws. As for the cloak, I got some thumb pins, cut the length, and added lockers to the back to keep them in the correct position. 3D printed some Mythosaur skulls on for that extra bit of decoration.
- Helmet: Hasbro Black Series Boba Fett ESB helmet. If you're going to be walking around in the sun, you NEED SOME TYPE OF AIRFLOW. I got some 50mm x 15mm USB fans and put them in the empty space. Worked great, actually cooler to have the helmet on than walk around having the sun beat down on you.
- Armor and LED: Armor was purchased online and the LED came as a kit I was able to glue onto the back and route it underneath the flak vest to a battery pack. Simple flip of a switch and life support systems are a go. (LED is my favorite part of the whole outfit)
Loved tinkering around with the outfit, didn't realize how much effort you guys really put into everything. Constantly building out the outfit, trial and error, and planning. Looking to fully get into creating a custom Mandalorian character now that I have a 3D printer and hopefully a bit more know-how.
"I'm a simple man making his way through the galaxy. Like my father before me."
